This lovely little toy piano has been a member of my parent’s home since before i can remember. These days it falls under the jurisdiction of my 4-year old niece, who was ever so kind as to allow me to record it!. It has a fabulous tinkling and out-of-tune carnival sort of sound, and i wanted to capture that before the piano was destroyed altogether. I have editing the original recordings and built a kontakt instrument with them, available for free on my website at www. Framingnoise. Com. This is a sample i did a while back when i was looking for a new default error sound for my computer. Taken from a old vinyl toy dog, cat and bear.

My daughter's song-box was running low on batteries. This is the last sound i could squeeze out of it.

Buzzing drone noise made by a toddler's toy which was malfunctioning due to low batteries. I modulated the sound by moving the mic around the toy and covering / uncovering it with a bowl during recording.

A loop of the polka rhythm from a yamaha pss-130 toy keyboard. Recorded at default tempo with a cad gxl1200 condenser mic.

24 bit sample, direct to sound card, volume adjusted to remove peaks. . . Sound is a long recording of static and crackling noises with random notes and music from a circuit bent musini toy. I honestly don't know if the static sound (activated with two body contacts) is classified as "white" or "pink" noise, but i really like the sound of it! a plethora of crunchy, crispy, noisy snippets to transform into a drum kit or something like that!.

Recording i made of a single hula hoop in a quiet bedroom. Recorded using the stereo mics on a zoom h6 recorder.

This is my rattle which i got when i was a child, in the party for kids. It is a nice souvenir of this times. It was recorded in a small room with zoom h2n (xy).

I decided to tinker around on an old kid's practice first act piano. There are metal rods inside that are struck, and produce a plink/ringing sound. It is also out of tune, which makes it wonderful for producing an eerie feeling when played in a minor key.
